Credentials
All Registrants in Ontario must complete registration education courses administered on behalf of RECO by the Ontario Real Estate Association Real Estate College before beginning work as a broker/sales representative. Those aspiring to outstanding performance add to their real estate education.
For example, Joan has acquired the following credentials in addition to the basic real estate course:
- Broker – Passed all examinations to be registered by the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations as a Real Estate Broker, 1976 (presently administered on behalf of RECO by the Ontario Real Estate Association Real Estate College).

FRI – Fellow, Real Estate Institute: successfully completed advanced-level university courses in real estate, including urban development and economics.

CMR – Certified in the Marketing of Real Estate: satisfied the professional, educational, and experience requirements for membership in the Real Estate Institution of Canada.

CRA – Certified, Registered Canadian Residential Appraiser: passed all examinations and requirements of the by-laws and regulations of the Appraisal Institute of Canada.

- Forty-six years of continuous, full-time service with the same national brokerage – Royal LePage, in the Ottawa real estate market
- Past Director, Real Estate Institute of Canada, Ottawa Chapter
- Past Director, Real Estate Board of Ottawa, Chaired the Ethics Committee and served on most committees of the Real Estate Board of Ottawa; Member of Royal LePage Advisory Council
