Joan has a high volume of business and as a result has assembled a team of professionals including sales representatives and an office administrator. The Team includes Luc St-Hilaire, Victoria Smith, and Michelle Kohlsmith.

About Mrs. Joan Smith, FRI, CMR, CRA

Joan is a lifetime member of the Royal LePage National Chairman’s Club, earned in 1985, and has received the award consistently for 45 consecutive years, since 1972*, and with her team’s help starting in 1996.

This prestigious membership is given to only the top one percent of the more than 17,400 Royal LePage brokers/sales representatives across Canada each year.

She has reached this level of success by keeping up to date on the changing real estate market in the Ottawa area and by ensuring that she provides the highest level of personal service to each client.

Joan personally oversees the concerns of all clients, whether buying or selling, and has designed booklets filled with information and handy check lists for home owners.

Her carefully chosen staff brings together expertise in such varied fields as creative writing, web page design, and creative problem solving in addition to the usual office staff skills.

The Joan Smith Real Estate Family 1.

Joan finds it very important to live a balanced life and to contribute to the community she has been a part of most of her life. As one of the original residents of Kanata and a mother of two girls, she became active in Brownies and was one of the leaders of the first Kanata Brownie Pack. She was also a member of the group that founded the first Kanata Bridge Club.

Joan’s family is very important to her. She makes it a point to have a family dinner one evening every week, without fail, with her daughters Kimberley and Victoria, son-in-law Luc, and grandchildren Jacqueline, Danielle and Sarah. Attending hockey games and spending time at her country home on the lake are activities that rejuvenate the always youthful and vibrant Joan Smith.

Victoria Smith, B.Comm., MBA

Sales Representative

A native of Ottawa and Kanata, Victoria has seen and experienced Kanata’s growth in homes, businesses and services. A strong business and marketing background, combined with her personal approach complements the skills of the Joan Smith Real Estate Family 1. .

After completing a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queen’s in Kingston, Victoria joined the Price Waterhouse Management Consultants Ottawa office and performed a variety of market research and marketing strategy projects for private and public sector clients including economic development work for municipalities, and market research work for Industry Canada, Sport Canada, and Educational Institutions.

Victoria later went on to complete her Masters of Business Administration at Ottawa University and spent over 15 years in high technology marketing, presenting and interfacing with many customers and marketing technicians. Her work involved many facets of marketing including pricing, promotion, and channel and distribution plans.

Victoria’s consistent marketing approach places great importance on understanding customer’s needs and objectives while examining current market dynamics. Using her communication and marketing planning skills Victoria can develop and execute a customized home marketing or buying plan.

Growing up in a real estate family and now happily married to Luc and mother of three girls, Jacqueline, Danielle and Sarah, Victoria understands the significance of a home purchase or sale to a family and the factors to be considered. Schools, childcare, proximity to work, timing, etc. while optimizing budget, may all play a role in a home purchase or sale.

Sales Representative (Bilingual)

Born near Montréal, Luc is fluent in both English and French bringing a broader dimension of service to Joan Smiths Real Estate Family 1. .

With his warm, professional manner he immediately puts clients at ease, and his sincere desire to find them the best possible home shows in the extensive background work he completes for each home he sells.

Luc comes to the family from a related field. After completing a bachelor in Landscape Architecture at Université de Montréal, he worked for a major Ottawa landscape architectural firm for more than four years.

During that period, Luc broadened his knowledge of Kanata by working on the Open Space Master Plan for the Kanata Lakes area, and developing a Master Plan for Pinhey’s Point for the former City of Kanata.

Later, while working for the federal government, Luc was responsible for the implementation of several projects on the grounds of Parliament Hill, and other major renovation projects to federal buildings in Ottawa. Luc’s background in the field of Landscape Architecture is of great value in assessing properties potential for his buyers.

After almost 17 years in both the private and public sectors, Luc had the opportunity to expand his horizons and joined Joan Smith, his mother in law, in real estate.

Luc is happily married to Victoria, and together, they are enjoying every minute with their three wonderful daughters Jacqueline, Danielle, and Sarah. They have been living in Kanata since 1992 and have grown to love and appreciate its flowing green spaces, natural areas, the wide variety of home styles, and friendly community personality. As a father with young children, Luc has a keen appreciation of the importance of the services offered in the community: access to good schools, sporting activities, green space, transportation services and municipal organization.

As a sales representative who is bilingual, it will be Luc’s goal to make buying or selling your home a pleasurable and successful experience.

Michelle, our cheerful office administrator, has excellent attention to detail, ensuring that each transaction is handled with professionalism and quality. This helps the Joan Smith Real Estate Family 1. remain client focused and clients, like you, can be assured of receiving high caliber service.

Michelle developed a great admiration for beautiful properties and homes at a young age, and has been attuned to the buying and selling process, having lived in many homes while her family relocated throughout her youth. For the past eighteen years she has resided in and around Kanata, which began with her attending Earl or March Secondary School. Following, Michelle completed her Bachelor degree at Carleton University with a focus in both Art History and Geography.

Joining the Joan Smith Real Estate Family 1. in 2008, Michelle immersed herself completely into the real estate world. She comes to real estate with a creative background and applies a combination of knowledge, experience, problem solving, and aesthetic to her work.

Happily married to her husband, Eric, they have purchased their second home in Kanata and are excitedly improving their new place.
