Royal LePage Shelter Foundation

Hi Joan

I hope this email finds you well.

Today is my favourite day of the year as we are announcing the top Royal LePage Shelter Foundation donors from 2009.

Last year was our best year ever for the Shelter Foundation thanks to you and your colleagues from coast to coast.  Because of your generous support, we raised $1.5 million, increased the number of commission donors by 24%, set new significant records for our fundraising events and helped thousands of more women and children than ever before!

I am very happy let you know that you were a TOP 10% DONOR in 2009! This group of Top 10% donors  is made up of just 97 special individuals who were leadership supporters of the Shelter Foundation.  Congratulations on being recognized in this extraordinary group and thank you for your generous commitment to our work to help “put abuse out of commission” for families in your community.

We are so very grateful that you are such an important part of the Shelter Foundation family and  we really appreciate  your leadership support of our cause.  You have helped us restore hope and provide a safe haven for more than 30,000 women and children.  In my books that makes you a hero J

Thanks again Joan and all the best,

Sandra

Subject: 3rd Annual Jeanne Fuller Red Dress Charity Golf Classic

Dear Mrs. Smith,

On behalf of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and this year's Organizing Committee we would like to thank you for your generous sponsorship of the Jeanne Fuller Red Dress Charity Gold Classic. Thanks to your generosity $70,868 was raised for the Heart Institute and more awareness was spread that heart disease is the #1 killer of women.

As you well know, excellence and success do not happen by accident. Today, one of the most important ingredients in the Canadian healthcare sector is philanthropy. The Heart Institute is a stunning example of how a proud and generous community can help foster excellence in healthcare. Dr. Keon's vision, drive and leadership were key in creating the Institute and are being continued under Dr. Roberts. Both men would agree that the dream would never have been fulfilled without champions - private individuals and corporations who believe in what the Institute is trying to accomplish for the betterment of our community.

With your support, you demonstrate your commitment to the Heart Institute - Canada's largest and foremost cardiovascular health centre. Your gift is a valuable investment in patient care, important cardiac research and the acquisition of key medical equipment.

As we all make our way through these difficult economic times it is important to remember that our health is our most important asset. The light shines ever so brightly on donations made at this time.

Local shelter charities receive

REALTORS Care® Foundation Grants

     Ottawa Real Estate Board members support the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation through our annual charity golf tournament. This year’s tournament, held last May, raised a record-breaking $18,000 for the Foundation, soundly besting last year’s $15,000 (which in itself was a record!). The other way that members contribute to the Foundation is through the new “dollar per member per month” campaign that is added to each member’s monthly board dues. Nearly 2500 members each contributing one dollar every month adds up to almost $30,000 in just one calendar year.

     This summer, eight organizations in the Ottawa area applied for grants from the Foundation, and the Board is pleased to announce that all eight of them will receive funds this fall. The recipient organizations are:

  • Bruce House, which provides housing and compassionate care for those living with HIV/AIDS;
  • Chrysalis House, an emergency women’s and children’s shelter in Kanata;
  • Habitat for Humanity-NCR, which builds affordable homes for low-income families;
  • Harmony House, a second-stage women’s and children’s shelter;
  • Harvest House, which assists young men to get sober, stay sober and reintegrate back into society through counselling, education and work/life skills teaching;
  • Jericho Road Christian Ministries, which works with those who are in recovery from addiction and/or mental illness;
  • Ottawa Rotary Home Foundation, which, among other services, provides overnight respite care services for young adults with physical disabilities or complex medical needs;
  • The Shepherds of Good Hope, who provide food, shelter and clothing to the homeless and near-homeless, as well as mental health support and housing assistance.

     Some of the projects that will be funded by Foundation grants include a bathroom renovation at one of Jericho Road’s residential houses; safe storage for equipment used in a cooking skills program at Shepherds of Good Hope; and an after-school reading and homework program at Harmony House for children of women who have left an abusive home.

     The Board will be hosting a cheque presentation event for local grant recipients on November 25. Watch Membership News for your invitation to come and help celebrate with the recipients!

Hi Joan

I write you today because, hot off the presses, we are officially announcing our top donors from 2008.  It was a banner year for the Shelter Foundation and because of you we raised a record-breaking $1.4 million to help women and children across Canada!

I am thrilled to share with you that you were in the top 10% of Shelter Foundation contributors in 2008.  This group is made up of just 74 special individuals who contributed the most commission donations to support our work to end family violence.

I have attached your special Top 10% donor logo that you can use on your marketing materials.  This year we also launched some new sign riders for the different donor levels and you can find them on RLPNetwork for the Top 10% level.

Our top donors be recognized in the next issue of Leading Edge Online and listed on the RLPNetwork by next week.  Later in the spring, the royallepage.ca site will be redesigned and I intend to prominently recognize our top donors on that consumer facing site too.

Congratulations on this distinction and thank you so very much for your ongoing generous support and commitment to the Shelter Foundation.  We couldn’t be more appreciative of the leadership you’ve shown for your charitable giving and we thank you on behalf of the 30,000 women and children helped last year.

Thanks again and all the best,

Sandra J

Ireland Predham Newman Trust Fund - In Memory of Chrissy Predham

Re: 2008 Chrissy Predham Memorial Golf Tournament

I am writing to say thank you once again for your sponsorship of the 2007 Chrissy Predham Memorial Golf Tournament and to ask that you consider a similar involvement in 2008. I, and the tournament organizing committee, have decided to hold this even one last time to raise additional funds for my granddaughter Ireland’s Trust Fund. With the generous support of sponsors, last year’s tournament was a tremendous success attracting 225+ participants and raising $42,000.

The Chrissy Predham Memorial Golf Tournament has been organized in memory of a wonderful and devoted young woman, who was brutally murdered in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on January 21, 2007. Chrissy grew up in Ottawa, and attended St. Matthew’s High School. Chrissy left behind her darling daughter, Ireland Predham Newman. The proceeds raised last year and from this final tournament will be used as an endowment for a trust fund, which will provide for Ireland’s post-secondary education. This year’s tournament will not only honour the memory of Chrissy, but will provide an opportunity to raise awareness of the increasing violence against women in our community and our country.

This year’s tournament will be held at Manderley-On-The-Green Gold Club – Sunday, August 17, 2008.

“IT TAKES A WHOLE VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD”. You are invited to be a part of that village by being a tournament sponsor.

Thank you for your consideration. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Yours truly,

Yvonne Harvey,

Chair, Organizing Committee

Hi Joan,                                                                                                   July 4, 2008

Wonderful to have your support once again this year. Thank you very much on behalf of myself and all the committee members, who are working hard again this year to reach our goal in establishing a healthy post-secondary trust fund for Chrissy’s baby, Ireland.

Kindest personal regards,

Yvonne

On behalf of our swim club, I want to sincerely thank you for your generous contribution supporting the Regional Long Course Swim Meet, which took place on June 6/2008 at the Nepean Sportsplex. With your participation we were able to feed all our volunteers with a very diverse menu.

The feedback we received from everyone was that the food was well above the norm for this type of event.

As promised, your poster was placed in the hospitality area so that everyone could see it.

Best Regards,
