Stewart was born in the south of Ottawa has
been a resident of the Ottawa area all of his life. His
first full-time work experience was at the E.B. Eddy Paper
Co. as a mechanical draftsman.
During that time he spent a couple of years playing for
the Ottawa Rough Riders football club, helping the team win
a Grey Cup in 1960.
In 1961 Stewart moved on to a private consulting engineering
firm where he worked as an electrical designer of residential,
institutional, commercial and industrial buildings.
Through many of these years he was involved in real estate
as a home photographer and sign installer for his wife,
Joan Smith.
The Smiths (Stew, his wife Joan, and daughters
Kimberley and Victoria) moved to Kanata in 1965 when the ‘city’
consisted of only two streets in the Beaverbrook community. Stew
has watched the community grow from its infancy to a vibrant city
of about 19,000 homes, now a part of the greater City of Ottawa.
Stewart left engineering and joined his wife
as a full-time licensed sales representative in 1996. He plays
an important role in the business—taking all photographs and
details for listings, and general management of listings in preparation
for market. His familiarity with the types of homes and amenities
available in Kanata is a great asset when helping clients find
a house, and his engineering experience has provided him with
a wide and in-depth knowledge of construction methods.
Stewart is proud to be a part of the Joan
Smith Real Estate Family, and is pleased to assist his clients
in their search for a home that suits their needs and dreams.
